The Core Values of Grace Baptist Church
- Glorifying God
Because God is who He is, He is deserving of our highest thoughts, actions and emotions. We therefore value the duty and delight of giving him the honor due Him in all areas of our lives and service.
"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31
Matthew 22:37-38, Isaiah 42:8
- Reaching People
Because all people have sinfully forsaken God, God lovingly initiated the plan of bringing them back to Him through Christ. We therefore value the process and the product of sharing the truth about Christ in love, knowing that God does the saving.
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matthew 28:19-20,
Matthew 22:39, Galatians 4:4-7
- Applying Scripture
Because the Bible is God’s Word, it is the supreme authority in our lives. We therefore value the passionate pursuit of knowing, applying & teaching the Word of God.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17,
2 Peter 1:3, 2 Peter 1:19-21, John 17:17, Psalm 119:105
- Changing Hearts
Because Jesus Christ is the model for how we are to live and please God. We therefore value the transformation of our heart’s desires and motivations and make our lifelong pursuit the goal of becoming more like Him.
"That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." Ephesians 4:22-24,
1 Peter 3:11, Romans 5:1-5, John 8:29
- Edifying Relationships
Because the church is the Body and Bride of Christ, we are called to live in unity with each other and as a light to the lost. We therefore value commitment to the church, loving accountability, Christ like forgiveness, and biblical discipline for the building up of this local body.
"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25
John 13:34-35, Ephesians 4:1-3, Philippians 2:3-5, Philippians 2:15, Matthew 18:15-17
