We are learning that traveling to Africa requires a lot of detail.  In the last few weeks, we’ve gone through a check list for preparing for the trip.

Medically, yellow fever shots and malaria medicine are new experiences.  In response to advice that we shouldn’t drink the local water, we are taking filtering devices.  Over the counter products will will include bug spray, sunburn protection, and a sleep aid for the plane trip.

Politically, both Uganda and Ethiopia require visas which involved applications to the embassies in Washington DC.  Although not required, we will also let the U.S. State Department know of our itinerary.

Two of our suitcases will be filled with items to encourage the missionaries.   Our Awana Club has given us supplies which we will use in a Uganda for the clubbers to make witnessing bracelets.

Please continue to pray that we will be thorough in preparations; that we could be a blessing to the missionaries, national pastors, and the people we visit; and that God would receive glory from our trip.
